Smoking causes the blood vessels to constrict, reducing the blood supply and the oxygen carried by the blood to the surgical area. The tissues need this blood supply and the oxygen that the blood carries in order to heal. When the blood supply is reduced the tissues heal more slowly. Whether you are having a breast augmentation, a mastopexy, an abdominoplasty or another procedure, you should plan to quit six weeks prior to your surgery.

Is Lipodissolve safe?

Lipodissolve is perfectly safe.  Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) is a component of every cell in our body. As well, PPC is produced naturally by our bodies. It has been used in other fields of medicine to treat fat embolism in the lung and for lowering blood cholesterol levels. When PPC is injected into fat cells, it has a detergent like effect and causes fat cells to…

Silicone Cohesive Gel Breast Implants

Many women considering breast augmentation surgery are curious about silicone gel breast implants. Silicone gel implants are made of a gel filler that acts as a solid unit rather than a liquid. The gel holds together uniformly, while retaining the natural “give” that resembles actual breast tissue. Gel-filled breast implants use gel that is cohesive, safe and aesthetically pleasing. Silicone Gel-Filled Implants are offered in either a round style gel implant or a contour (anatomic) shaped gel implant. Meet with Dr. Niessen to see if silicone breast implants are for you.

Post-op recovery from an Abdominoplasty

After your abdominoplasty, you will have drains in place to drain fluid from the surgical site. The drains will be removed when drainage has slowed or stopped. For the first one to two weeks, your abdomen will likely be swollen. Discomfort will be controlled by medication. You will have a gauze dressing on your abdomen, covered by an abdominal compression garment. Patients typically wear this for 6 weeks. Sutures are removed at approximately ten days.

Mastopexy or Breast Lift Surgery

Factors such as nursing, pregnancy and gravity over time, change the appearance of the breasts. As women age, the elasticity of the skin becomes more loose and saggy. Women will lose that firmness and shape they once had. Speak with Dr. Niessen to see if breast lift surgery is right for you.
